Nissan Tweaks the LEAF for European Drivers

Nissan recently announced that production of their pioneering EV, the LEAF, would be moving their Smyrna, Tennessee plant. This is the very same plant where workers  turn out 550,000 vehicles each year - including the Nissan Altima and Pathfinder, among others. And while we're pretty excited to see production move a bit closer to home, we've also heard a rumor that European drivers will enjoy many of the same benefits of a move such as this.

Nissan and City Ventures Join Forces to Create 190 EV-Ready Homes

Nissan is taking green living from autos to houses.  That's right, earlier this month, the Japanese automaker announced a new joint project with City Ventures aimed at pre-wiring 190 houses in the state of California.

"Pre-wiring for what?" you ask. Level II electric vehicle charging docks recommended for the Nissan LEAF, that's what. And, while only three developments in California have been selected to initially participate in the initiative, City Ventures plans to pre-wire houses in all of its new housing developments, moving forward.

Nissan Plans To Expand LEAF Availiblity For 2012 Model Year

When the Nissan LEAF was launched the automaker only offered it to California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona and Tennessee which left the rest of the country out of luck. For 2012 Nissan plans to expand their markets to include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington D.C. to make it easier for people across the country to get a LEAF.
